The Montessori method: An education focused on the child

The Montessori method, named after its creator Maria Montessori, is an alternative educational approach that places the child at the center of their learning.

The fundamental principles of the Montessori method:

  • The child as an actor in their learning: The child is considered an active individual, curious and eager to learn. They are free to choose their activities from carefully designed educational materials.
  • The prepared environment: The child's environment is arranged to promote their autonomy and exploration. The materials are presented in an orderly and accessible manner.
  • Learning through experience: The child learns by doing, experimenting, and making mistakes. The adult's role is to guide the child in their discoveries.
  • Developing autonomy: The Montessori method encourages the child to become independent in their daily actions and learning.
  • Learning practical life skills: Activities of daily living (dressing, washing, tidying up, etc.) are considered essential for the child's development.

Its goal?

To offer a rich and stimulating educational framework for the child. By respecting each child's pace and interests, it promotes harmonious development of the child on an intellectual, social, and emotional level.

We have a monthly meeting with our Montessori specialist to organize our activities and better understand them.
